Birthday party blow out (mucho pictures)

After mom's threat to cancel the party, we straightened up and were really good, especially today.
It all started with the baking of the cakes. Tallulah did her best to get around the barrier and on to the counter.

Mom's not the best decorator, but she tries.
Paw print cake

That's supposed to be red for the patriotic theme.
There's Lilo, Tallulah, Stitch, Daisy, Piper, Oliver, Giles and Isabelle

All the puggies surround mom. Guess who has the cake?

We really want that cake.

Petunia is getting ready to help herself.
Hurry up already!

What is taking so long!?!!?!?!?!

It was ugly hot so many of our guests didn't come. But those who did really enjoyed it!
Isabelle enjoying her cake

This is Daisy. Her dad mushed the cake up for her.

Oliver is picking up any crumbs that Daisy missed.

Here we are, getting every morsel of cake that jumped off the plate. You can see our plates are clean already.
Elliott (black) and Daisy are looking for more.

There was lots of this going on.

And lots of this. Clockwise from the top, Sassy (fawn) sniffing Daisy, Isabelle eating ice cream, Petunia, Elliott and Giles (also black) eating his ice cream.
Isabelle takes her ice cream very seriously.

Tallulah is cleaning up after her guests.

Giles really seemed to like his ice cream!
So did Oliver!

Elliott stays with us sometimes. Isn't he fun?

Petunia is a master of getting all the ice cream out of the cup.

Tallulah taking a break on mom's lap. That's poison ivy, not bruises, by the way.

Well that's it for today. Next post, prezzies and most importantly, treats! Our party was catered by none other than Pugs in the Kitchen! You won't believe the oodles of treats and toys that came!
Special thanks to Auntie Erin and Mrs. Jeanette for sharing their pictures.

In memory of sweet Tuni

Tuni and Sequoia were our first pug friends. We all met at a pug meet up where Tuni ran as far as her little legs would carry her for about 10 seconds. Then she would wobble a little and plop right down in the dirt. Tuni was a favorite at meet ups and spent most of her time being held by anyone who could get a turn. She was just an itty bitty girl

Tuni's famous little tongue dried out and got dirty at the park, but her mom was always ready with some water to clean it off.

Tuni's mom and dad helped at Pugapalooza and created the most awesome kissing booth ever. We still use it.

Sequoia's birthday is just a few days after Tallulah and Petunia's so we had a joint birthday party one year. Here is Tuni, chilling on the chaise in our backyard.

Tuni had a hard life until she was rescued. She was dumped in a box and left for rescue. Thankfully, she landed in the best home, with the best parents and the best sister. They loved her and treated her like she deserved to be treated.

Their blog was the first blog we ever read, and they inspired us to start blogging.

Tuni, we have missed seeing your sweet face here and we will always remember you.
Our thoughts and prayers with your whole family.

We are 5!

Today is our fifth birthday. We get a party on Saturday, if we stop our rotten and hateful behavior. We've moved beyond naughty to mean. So if we behave, we'll have more to share from Saturday.

Update on Oliver!

Oliver went to his second pug meet up today and had a great time!
He's learning how to play with other dogs and catching on quickly.
He is a pretty social pug and made himself at home in any available lap.
Petunia is welcoming baby Isabelle to the meet up.
The bigger black dog is Alice, showing baby Isabelle the way it goes at the dog park.
Never sit down at a pug meet up or you will be covered in pugs. They are hard to get out!
We are checking out the clover. Good crop this year!

Just look at that happy boy!

Can you believe this little lover hasn't been adopted yet? Unbelievable. If you know anyone who's interested, have them check out www.pugsugottasave.org.

Just breathe

Isabelle on the Mac today with an update on my health status.
Mom and the vet figured out how to get me a portable oxygen tank for those emergencies when I need a little extra juice.
But how to deliver the oxygen to my little pug nose?

First option, the cone with a lid.
That purple part goes around the neck and the rest of it zips up over your head.
Um, no.

Second was the hamster ball/spaceman version.
HECK NO! Do you want me to stop breathing!

Third was the bell version. This is the German Shepherd size, but the vet thought it would work for me without the black rubber gasket on the bottom. This is the kind typically used by firefighters on pets.
Maybe, but not so much.

The vet thought it would be better to start off with my inhaler since I tolerate that. If I do need oxygen, the mask doesn't have to be tight against my face, just in the vicinity of my nose.

Here's all the pieces.
Oxygen tank in a handy carrying case.
Inhaler.
Tubing.
Regulator. (green thing)

So they took all the pieces and created this.
The tubing goes into the inhaler, how simple is that?

You'd think this was easy, but it turned out to be a little harder than we thought. Trying to get a portable oxygen tank for a dog is apparently not that common. The medical supply store thought mom was pulling a prank on them.

But how's this for pug power? One of the managers has three pugs! And all the ladies at the supply store wanted to know why I didn't come in with mom to pick up the tank! They demanded that I come in with mom when I need a refill. In my stroller, no less. They did ooh and ah over my pictures though.

The extra oxygen makes me feel so good and makes me so relaxed, mom might use it when it's time to do my nails, too. The vet said, why not! It's all about keeping me happy.
The rental fee is $20 a month and a tank refill is $10. Well worth it for my comfort!
